Conference of Central and States Statistical Organizations to be held in Panaji, Goa from 23rd January, 2014

Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India, is organizing a two day Conference of Central and States Statistical Organizations (COCSSOs) in Panaji, Goa from 23rd January, 2014. This Conference is being organised in collaboration with Government of Goa. 

As per the recommendations of the National Statistical Commission, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation organizes a Conference of Central and State Statistical Organizations (COCSSOs) every year, which provides a platform for the Central and State Statisticians to exchange views and discuss common issues relating to statistical activities. This is a major forum for coordination between the Central and State Statistical agencies with the objective of putting in coordinated efforts for making available reliable and timely statistics to planners and policy makers, not only in Government but also in private corporate sector for objective decision making. 

During the conference, important issues such as Labour and Employment Statistics, Annual Survey of Service Sectors, IT initiatives in Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) and Local level Statistics would be discussed. Besides, Green National Accounting for India, 13th Finance Commission’s Recommendations, progress on 6th Economic Census, India Statistical Strengthening Project (ISSP) and the working of Collection of Statistics Act, 2008 will also figure in the deliberations. 

Members of the National Statistical Commission, DG & CEO of NSSO, DG of CSO, Additional DGs and other senior officials from Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and other Central Ministries, Principal Secretaries from the States/UTs and the Heads of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DESs) from the States and UTs are scheduled to take part in the Conference.
